1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using Surbias ("the Service," "we," "us," or "our"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the Service. Your continued use of Surbias constitutes your acceptance of any updates to these terms.

2. Description of Service

Surbias is a platform designed to counteract survivorship bias by giving people a space to share their failure stories, setbacks, and lessons learned — anonymously if they choose. We believe that honest accounts of failure are just as valuable as success stories, and we exist to make those voices heard.

The Service allows users to submit, read, and interact with stories about personal and professional failures. Posts may be submitted without creating an account or with an optional registered account for additional features.

3. User Accounts

Creating an account is optional. If you choose to register, you may do so via email and password or through Google authentication. You are responsible for:

• Maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials.
• All activity that occurs under your account.
• Providing accurate information during registration.
• Notifying us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or that have been inactive for an extended period.

4. User Content

You retain ownership of any content you submit to Surbias ("User Content"). By submitting content, you grant Surbias a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to display, reproduce, and distribute that content solely for the purpose of operating and improving the Service.

You may post anonymously. When you do, no identifying information will be displayed alongside your submission. You represent and warrant that your User Content does not violate any applicable law or third-party rights.

You may request deletion of your User Content at any time by contacting us or, if you have an account, through your account settings.

5. Prohibited Content

You agree not to submit content that:

• Contains hate speech, slurs, or content that demeans individuals based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or national origin.
• Constitutes threats, harassment, or bullying of any individual or group.
• Is spam, unsolicited commercial advertising, or automated submissions.
• Is illegal under applicable law, including content that infringes third-party intellectual property rights or violates privacy laws.
• Contains explicit sexual content or graphic violence.
• Impersonates another person or entity in a misleading way.
• Encourages self-harm or harm to others.

6. Content Moderation

Surbias reserves the right — but not the obligation — to review, edit, or remove any User Content at any time, for any reason, without notice. We are not liable for any content posted by users.

The community may flag content that appears to violate these Terms. Flagged content will be reviewed and may be removed at our discretion. Repeat violations may result in account suspension or termination.

7. Privacy

Your privacy matters to us. Our collection and use of personal information is described in our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. By using the Service, you consent to the data practices described in that policy.

8. Disclaimer

The content on Surbias is provided for informational and community purposes only. Nothing on this platform constitutes professional advice — legal, financial, medical, or otherwise. Stories shared here reflect personal experiences and opinions of their authors.

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Surbias and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of — or inability to use — the Service, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.

Our total liability for any claim arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service shall not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim, or (b) USD $10.

10. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review these Terms periodically. Your continued use of the Service after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the new Terms.
